The Draper Family has been farming this one-acre plot on the outskirts of San Anselmo since 1994. Farmer Draper (in his eighties) is the hired hand and works for an annual salary of one dollar. All members of the extended Draper family pitch in to do what's needed year round. There's always something to do on the farm.
A flock of chickens provide fresh eggs and patrol for bugs in the winter. Eight to twelve bee hives provide pollination services and produce fresh, local honey in good years. Almost all of the varieties planted at Draper Farms are from open pollinated seeds (heirloom) which have typically been passed down for generations for some good reason (taste, shape, size, color, etc).

With three generations working on one acre, the Draper’s do not have a need for any more help – they are having too much fun as it is.
